Man dies after being hit by lorry in Peckham

A man has died after being hit by a lorry in Peckham earlier today. The man is believed to be in his 40s and was hit in Peckham High Street near the junction with Bellenden Road. A Metropolitan Police statement said: “We were called by the London Ambulance Service at 12:58pm on January 8 to a collision in Peckham High Street, Southwark involving a lorry and a pedestrian.

“The pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. We are working to inform next of kin. “The lorry driver has not been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries.

Road are closed in both directions. Motorists should use alternative routes where possible.” Any witnesses or those with dash cam footage are asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 3432/8 Jan.
