Trains delayed as lorry gets stuck under railway bridge in Carlisle

A lorry has been safely removed after becoming trapped under a railway bridge in Carlisle. All train services in and out of the city were delayed after the vehicle got stuck, on Wednesday morning, blocking part of Crown Street. It affected routes on Avanti West Coast as well as Northern and TransPennine Express services.

Routes affected by the incident included:

The route was impassable to vehicles for a couple of hours and drivers were diverted by police.
