Update: Pedestrian died after collision with lorry

The driver of the lorry has not been arrested and is helping officers with their enquiries

A man who died in Peckham High Street this afternoon was hit by a lorry, police confirmed. Emergency services arrived at the scene within three minutes, including the air ambulance, but the pedestrian passed away at the scene. He has not yet been identified.  Police say they are working to inform his next of kin.

The man is believed to have been in his 40s. The driver of the lorry has not been arrested and is helping officers with their enquiries. A cordon remains in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Peckham High Street is closed in both directions. Traffic and bus diversions are in place.
