Motorway police take HGV off the M6

Motorway police have told a HGV driver their lorry was not roadworthy – after finding the brake chamber in a plastic bag. Officers from the North West Motorway Police stopped the HGV at Sandbach as part of an enforcement operation with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. The DVSA initially found the lorry had issues with the brake pipes after spotting they were tied up with wire.

It was then they discovered the shocking location of the brake chamber. Police officers took to social media to warn over road users about the incident.

A North West Motorway Police spokesman said: “The DVSA found the trailer was missing its brake chamber. The brake pipes were tied up with wire.

“Upon inspection the missing brake chamber was found in a plastic bag in the vehicle’s cab.

“Vehicle now prohibited.”

Earlier today the North West Motorway Police revealed they had arrested a ‘wanted’ man on the same stretch of carriageway.
