Police appeal after elderly driver collides with HGV on A55

Appeal after serious crash in Caerwys POLICE have appealed for witnesses after an elderly man was seriously injured following a crash on the A55. North Wales Police was called to the busy dual carriageway at the Caerwys off-slip after a two-vehicle crash just before 10.30am on Friday, February 14.

A car, being driven by a man in his 70s, collided with a HGV that was parked in the layby. Fire service crews, police and ambulance attended the scene and the driver was airlifted by the Air Ambulance to hospital in Stoke. Inspector Nicky Collins, of the force’s Roads Policing Unit, urged witnesses to come forward.

“Anybody who may have seen the collision, or who may have seen the grey coloured Suzuki Jimny just prior to the collision is urged to contact us as soon as possible,” she said.
