Two in hospital after cars flips over in middle of village

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash in East Yorkshire. Main Street in Bainton was closed as Humberside Police recovered a vehicle, with traffic being diverted around the village. The road is part of the A614, a main thoroughfare between Driffield and Middleton-on-the-Wolds.

Just after 3pm, a man and a woman were freed from a car that had overturned. A spokeswoman for Humberside Fire & Rescue Service said: “We were called at 3.17pm to a single vehicle road traffic collision where there was an overturned car. “An adult female and adult male were freed from the car using hydraulic cutting equipment.

“They were taken to hospital and the incident has been left in the hands of the police.”

A recovery truck is currently on scene, with police closing the road from the junction with Back Street until just passed Church Street.

The extent of the injuries are not yet known.
