The van picks up speed and smashes through a small wooden fence as the driver runs out the restaurant in a panic.

Yet he was powerless to stop it as it plunges over the side and down the slope.

The man throws his hands around his head and stares after the van - which ends up near the River Ely below.

The video was posted online on Sunday by Gareth Jeffs with the caption: 'Fish delivery didn't go well to the Miskin Arms. Looks like they wanted to get back in the river.'

'It was just some kind of hand brake malfunction and there's a bit of an incline to the back of the property as you can see.'

The 53-year-old added: 'It's unbelievable.

The driver was quite distraught to be honest.

'We will interview him about it properly but there will be no disciplinary action at all, he's one of the genuine ones and you can see he was quite upset.

'It did shake us all up mind, but we've fixed the van, fixed the fence and it's business as usual.'

The Miskin Arms has been contacted for comment.
