Video shows truck engulfed in huge flames which burned throughout the night

Dramatic footage taken at the scene of a huge fire shows a truck completely engulfed in flames near the A605. Four crews were called out at 11.46pm on Tuesday evening (February 11) to a large fire in Funtham Lane, Whittlesey. Firefighters from across the county spent more than six hours tackling the blaze overnight. The large fire involved a forklift truck, lorry trailer and wooden pallets.

The dramatic video, shared by Neil Game across Facebook, gained a huge reaction due to the nature of the fire. People were commenting they had “never seen anything like it before”, while sending their support to the emergency services involved. As a result of the huge fire the A605 was closed to protect motorists due to the intensity of the heat.

The road has since reopened.

Speaking after the incident, Group Commander Jamie Johnson said: “The high winds made tackling the fire challenging but crews did a great job in bringing it under control and preventing it from spreading further.”

The investigation has been completed and the fire was found to have started accidentally.

The last update which was issued at lunchtime yesterday (February 12) said that one crew remained at the scene monitoring hotspots and dampening down the area.
