Woman fighting for life after being hit by lorry as police shut major road

A woman has been left fighting for her life after being hit by a lorry in Sale. Police say they were called just after 2:30pm to reports a HGV had collided with a pedestrian in Washway Road. Emergency services raced to the scene where the woman is still being treated by paramedics.

Greater Manchester Police say she has suffered serious injuries and is in a life-threatening condition. The road is currently closed from the junctions with School Road and Sibson Road, heading towards Altrincham.

Commuters have been warned to avoid the area as it is likely “the road will be closed for a while as officers respond to this incident.” Transport for Greater Manchester said: “Washway Road, Sale is closed at the junction with School Road in a southbound direction towards Altrincham.
