A505 traffic: Road near Herts shut after lorry jack-knifes and lands on side

The A505 has been closed this morning after a lorry jack-knifed overnight between Duxford and Whittlesford. The HGV's load fell onto its side, and is needing to be recovered this morning. The closure is between Hunts Road and Whittlesford.

Bedfordshire, Cambridge and Hertfordshire's Roads Policing Unit first tweeted from the incident just after 11.45pm last night (April 14). The video showed a number of police vehicles attending the scene, although the road was able to be re-opened overnight. However, while the lorry and its trailer is recovered the road has needed to be closed again in both directions.

Drivers heading in this direction are advised to avoid the area while the closure is in place.

Motorists should also seek alternative routes where possible.
