Horrific Salford car crash leaves vehicle a mangled wreck and road closed overnight

Horrifying images show a car on its roof in a mangled wreck following a collision in Salford. The smash took place on Regent Road, near to the junction of Oldfield Road, in Ordsall, on Sunday at around 10.30pm. It is understood to have struck the central reservation.

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said a man and a child were treated at the scene.

They were taken to Salford Royal Hospital in an ambulance.

Police sealed off a section of Regent Road

The extent of their injuries is unknown.

Images taken of the aftermath of the smash show the silver car lying badly damaged in the centre of the road. Regent Road outbound was sealed off, at the junction with Trinity Way, while emergency services attended the scene. The road was sealed off for most of the evening and re-opened again at around 6am.

A spokeswoman for NWAS said: "We were called at 10.31pm to Ordsall Lane to a road traffic collision.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle and two ambulances to the scene. "Police were informed. "It looks like we treated two patients, one male adult, one child, we transported to Salford Royal."

Many residents in the area reported being woken by a helicopter attending the crash.

One resident posted: "There's a helicopter circling at this time at night...it's been circling for the last 15 minutes."
