Road closed after motorcyclist dies in crash

A road remains closed in Shaldon after a crash which led to the death of a motorcyclist in Shaldon. A statement from Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed a man in his 30s had died following the incident on Teignmouth Road involving a motorbike and bin lorry. The force added that the road will remain closed while investigations continue.

"A man has died following a collision in Shaldon, Devon, earlier today," the statement said. "Emergency services were called at 1.10pm today, 7 April, to the collision involving a motorcycle and a refuse truck on Teignmouth Road by Labrador Bay car park. "The male motorcyclist, aged in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and was sadly confirmed deceased at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

"Emergency services remain at the scene and Teignmouth Road is closed in both directions and is expected to remain shut for some time.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police via [email protected] or by phone on 101, quoting log number 325 of 07/04/20."
