Search warrant conducted at truck driver's home following horrific Vic crash

A search warrant has been conducted at the home of a truck driver responsible for crashing into four police officers in Victoria overnight. Police said the results of the search warrant were now subject to an ongoing investigation. The truck driver is under police guard in hospital today after crashing on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway shortly before 6pm on Wednesday.

Four police officers, three men and a woman, were killed at the scene. Police also revealed the driver of a Porche, which the officers pulled over for speeding shortly before the truck crashed into them in the emergency lane of the highway, returned a positive drug test. The Porche driver fled the scene on foot but is expected to present himself to police this morning.

Police said the 41-year-old Porche driver had an extensive criminal history and was well known to police.
