A dog that was rescued from Thailand's illegal meat trade left This Morning viewers in tears, after its owner revealed he transformed the life of her autistic son who has cerebral palsy.

Amanda Leask, from Inverness-shire, Scotland, appeared on Britain's Got Talent this weekend to perform a magic trick with Miracle the dog, but ended up stealing hearts for a slightly different reason.

The crossbreed was saved from a cage stuffed with more than 1,000 dogs Thailand's illegal dog meat trades and adopted by Amanda, who has won awards for her work with rescue dogs.

Appearing on This Morning today, she spoke of the special bond Miracle has with her autistic six-year-old son Kyle, who she says 'finds solace' in the dog,  explaining the animal also feels a connection with him as he's had a 'troubled life'.

Pooch Miracle now has a special bond with Amanda's son Kyle (pictured) , who has cerebral palsy and autism

She said: 'Kyle has cerebral palsy and he's also autistic. He's non-verbal and we noticed that when Miracle came over, because he was a very troubled dog, he was seeking solace in Kyle.

'Kyle would make sounds and respond and Miracle would respond,  and Kyle was getting some solace from Miracle.'

Viewers were moved by the story, with one writing: 'OMG that's made me cry all over again.'

'Crying again now. What a woman!

Thank you for everything', said another.

This Morning viewers were left in tears at the story and quickly took to Twitter to share similar stories

Sharing a similar story, one viewer wrote: 'Our rescue dog arrived from Romania on Saturday night, her name is Pinto. Had to wait 6 weeks for her to travel. The shelter and transporters do an amazing job'.

Miracle was snatched from the streets of north east Thailand and loaded onto a truck with hundreds of other stolen dogs, all destined for the dog meat restaurants of Hanoi in Vietnam.

Luckily for Miracle, the truck carrying him to his death was intercepted by agents working for the Phuket-based animal welfare charity Soi Dog Foundation.

The dogs were taken to a purpose-built shelter in Thailand, where they were then put up for adoption.

Amanda Leask spotted Miracle's photo shortly after he had been rescued, on a Soi Dog Facebook post.

Devastated by his plight and the hopelessness of his situation, she enquired about adopting him.

After eight weeks of searching online, she tracked him down to a Thai rescue centre, and arranged for him to be flown to the UK and took him home to Edinburgh.

Appearing in the show on Saturday, Miracle performed a magic trick that cleverly revealed some other four-legged friends his owner has brought along.

Simon Cowell and his fellow judges welled up on the show this weekend, as she told them: 'Miracle has been at the heart of our family for six years, but he wasn't always as happy and healthy as he is today.

Amanda (pictured here with Miracle and Kyle) previously said there is an 'unspoken language' between the hound and her disabled son

'He spent the early part of his life in unimaginable conditions as a victim of the dog meat trade.

'When the rescuer first saw him she thought he was dead, but when her camera flashed, he opened an eye.

It was a miracle he was still alive.

We brought him back to Scotland and slowly nurtured him back to health.'

Since the show aired, Amanda has received hoards of supportive messages and says it was 'amazing' to watch back her story at home with Miracle.

'Basically we just have been blown away by the response', she told.

'We're just so so excited it was amazing to sit with Miracle on my lap and just watch it and take it all in.

It brought back so many memories because obviously this was a while ago now.'
