Inside the Mira fire: Pictures show extent of damage caused by blaze in Hinckley

A fire that engulfed part of the Mira Technology Park began accidentally, firefighters have confirmed. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service returned to the scene of the blaze in Hinckley this morning to continue with investigations into what caused a storage building to go up in flames on Sunday. A service spokeswoman today told LeicestershireLive the fire began by accident, but was unable to say what the cause was.

Ten fire engines and four special appliances were deployed to the automotive research complex off the A5 when the fire began shortly before 2pm on Sunday. Large clouds of black smoke were visible for miles around as crews battled to restrict and extinguish the flames amid fears that petroleum on site might be ignited.
