A major road in South Mimms, Hertfordshire has been shut by emergency services after a lorry overturned. Police officers are in attendance and have arrested the driver of the lorry after they failed a drug test. The collision, in Saint Albans Road, just off the M25, at the South Mimms junction, is set to see the road closed for sometime.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area. Pictures from the scene show the lorry on its side just after the one-way section of the road.

Two fire engines, police cars and a recovery truck are also at the scene. It is not yet known whether anyone was injured in the collision or if there were any other vehicles involved.

The road is one of the main routes into Potters Bar and will cause heavy congestion and delays in and around the area. It is currently closed between South Mimms and Blackhorse Lane. All relevant emergency services have been approached for a comment.
