Lorry overturns negotiating Bilston roundabout

A lorry overturned while negotiating a busy roundabout in Bilston. The HGV, which was carrying household waste, ended up on its side on the Black Country Route, near Queen Street, earlier today (Tuesday, May 12). Emergency services - including firefighters and paramedics - were called to the scene just before midday.

Medics treated one patient, who had suffered minor injuries, but they were discharged at the scene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the police at 11.59am to Queen Street, Bilston, to reports of a road traffic collision.

"One ambulance attended and assessed one patient, who suffered minor injuries. "The patient was discharged on scene." A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman added: "We received a call at 12.07pm to say an articulated lorry carrying household waste had turned on its side while negotiating a roundabout.

"Recovery of the vehicle was being arranged."

Motorists were warned to avoid the area while the vehicle was recovered.
