Recap – M6 delays near Stafford after car and lorry catch fire

Diversion in place

An Inrix spokesman said: "M6 Northbound closed, stationary traffic due to accident, a lorry and a car involved and smoke blowing across the road between J12 A5 (Gailey) and J13 A449 (Stafford South).
"Northbound was officially closed at 12:55. Southbound was held earlier for half an hour, however at 13:20 lanes three and four were closed to assist.

There the lorry caught fire as a result of the collision.

"Diversion - Follow the Hollow Black Triangle Symbol via the exit at J12, onto the A5 Westbound which is looking slow.

Then, at Gailey, head onto the A449 Northbound through Penkridge, which is also congested, to rejoin the M6 at J13."
