Sandy Road remains shut as shocking photo shows lorry that crashed into tree

A major road through Bedfordshire will remain closed until the early afternoon after a lorry crashed into a tree. An image from the scene shows the lorry that was left with significant damage following the crash on Sandy Road, Potton - just north of the Hertfordshire border. Emergency services attended the scene, with one man taken to hospital with serious injuries, although they are not believed to be life-threatening.

Firefighters were also sent to the scene to ensure the HGV could be recovered safely.

A spokesperson for Bedfordshire Police said: "We were called shortly after 5am by the East of England Ambulance Service following reports a lorry had collided with a tree on Sandy Road, Potton. "The road was closed as emergency services attended the scene and is expected to remain so until early afternoon.
