Sterling Europa caravan is casually stolen

Brazen thieves stole a GBP7,000 caravan - right in front of shocked onlookers. The criminals carried on with taking the four-berth caravan despite being shouted at and told that police had been called. The thieves finished cutting through a wheel lock and hitched it onto a pick-up truck.

They then casually drove off the Husbands Bosworth airfield with the white Sterling Europa 495 caravan at about 11.30pm on Monday. Police rushed to the scene, and the force helicopter was called out, but the thieves and the caravan could not be traced. Rolf Tietema told how his caravan, which contained possessions belonging to himself and his wife Tricia, was taken from the airfield, off Sibbertoft Road in Husbands Bosworth, which is between Lutterworth and  Market Harborough.

"The person who told me about the caravan being stolen said that there were people shouting at the thieves but they just carried on regardless. "The people shouted that the police had been called but they did not rush at all. "They were incredibly brazen in how they stole the caravan."

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing and we would ask anyone with information, who has seen the caravan or knows of its whereabouts to call us."
