Trapped man abandoned by friends in mangled car after Doncaster crash

Four people fled after the car they were travelling in was involved in a crash on a Doncaster road - leaving a fifth occupant badly hurt and trapped inside the mangle wreckage. South Yorkshire Police are now investigating and want to trace witnesses to help confirm exactly what happened on the A638. The collision happened around 10.30pm on Saturday, May 9, near junction 38 and police say a VW Bora, travelling towards Doncaster, collided with the rear of a flatbed truck.

That vehicle had been involved in setting up roadworks on the dual carriageway. A front seat passenger, aged 32, was left trapped as four other occupants fled. The injured man was freed by firefighters and taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.
