Dog walker showered in offal as lorry brakes harshly on Stoke-on-Trent road

A woman has told of the revolting moment she was showered in offal after a truck carrying carcasses braked sharply on a Stoke-on-Trent road. She was walking with her dog on Weston Road, Meir, when the lorry came to a juddering halt covering her in animal guts. Despite clearly being in distress, the trucker did not get out of his cab to help.

Writing about the disturbing incident on StokeonTrentLive's Facebook page, she said: "I was having a nice lovely walk with my dog and the next thing I know a truck breaks very harshly beside me. "All of a sudden me and my dog are covered in offal carcass waste. "I waited for the driver to get out to see if I was OK but he didn't so I rushed home.

"I was embarrassed as people were looking at me, nearly throwing up because of how I smelt.

"My clothes are ruined and I can't get the smell out. "Luckily I let a woman and her child go in front of me before the truck had stopped suddenly or else she and her baby would have been in my position. "It's absolutely disgusting that the driver didn't even bother to get out of his truck to see if anyone was OK."

It comes after years of issues with lorries connected to John Pointons and Sons, in Cheddleton, 'leaking' waste on to the roads. However, it is not yet known whether the offal spill on Monday was connected to the company. Karen Deal said: "I've driven through offal when driving from Meir to work in Leekbrook.

It was stuck on my wheel arches.

"I  had to jet wash my car at my parents' house and the remnants came off on their drive.

It stunk that bad my dad had to clean the driveway."
