DPD statement after alleged illegal immigrants jump out of lorry at Oldbury hub

DPD has issued a statement after shocking footage captured the moment three alleged illegal immigrants jumped from the back of a lorry at its Oldbury depot. The trio were caught on camera as they clambered out of the HGV trailer parked at the Broadwell Road site on Wednesday, June 24. As the clip above shows , the men strolled off after leaving the vehicle - but they were quickly escorted to an on-site containment area to wait for police.

Three men were arrested for immigration offences following an incident at the DPD depot in Oldbury

A DPD spokesman told Black Country Live : "The individuals were discovered in an inbound European trailer at our Oldbury hub.

"We have strict guidelines and a thorough process for dealing with such situations. 

"The police were notified immediately and the individuals were escorted to a safe containment area on site, where they were looked after until the police arrived."

West Midlands Police confirmed a 31-year-old and two 26-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.

A Home Office spokesman said the men - who presented themselves as Eritrean nationals - were interviewed by immigration officers and their cases would be dealt with according to immigration rules.
