Egremont annual town meeting preview

When: 6 p.m. Tuesday Where: French Park, 21 Prospect Lake Road

Outdoor vote: After delaying its annual town meeting, Egremont has decided to convene outdoors to vote on its budget. Strict social distancing measures will be in effect. A maximum of two members of each household must remain in a small circle apart from others.

As well as requiring face masks, Egremont will distribute disposable microphone covers that attendees must use if they want to speak. At the end of the meeting, the moderator will dismiss people in groups, in order to maintain social distancing. Rescue truck loans: In 2018, Fire Chief Joe Schneider proposed the purchase of a new rescue truck for the Fire Department.

According to minutes from a Board of Selectmen meeting, Egremont’s old truck had been a converted plumbing truck purchased by the Fire Corp., not the town. Egremont bought the truck last year and is entering the first year paying it off. Insurance: Insurance costs are up from fiscal year 2020, including an increase in health/dental insurance and for pensions.

Article Continues After Police budget increases: The collective bargaining budget for the Police Department rose about £24,000 from last year. Egremont has three full-time and six part-time police officers.
