Lorry and car crash at M6 Spaghetti Junction causes traffic problems

A lorry and a car have crashed near to Spaghetti Junction this morning (June 9) causing slow traffic for motorists coming in and out of Birmingham city centre. Two lanes were closed on the M6 between junction 6 at A38 Gravelly Hill and junction 5 at a452 Castle Bromwich following the incident involving the heavy goods vehicle. Police and traffic officers attended the scene of the incident, which happened before 8am today.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said: “Lanes 1&2 ( of 4 ) closed on the M6 between J6 GravellyHill to J5 CastleBromwich due to a collision HGV vs car.

Traffic Officers and police on scene. Take care on approach.” It has been reported that lane one remained closed until around 8.05 but all lanes have now been reopened.

Elsewhere, the M5 southbound lane has been closed on the entry slip road due to broken down vehicle at J4 A38 Halesowen Road (Bromsgrove / Stourbridge).

One lane is closed heading up from the roundabout but traffic is said to be coping well.
