Main road in city centre closed after lorry sheds load of metal fence panels and posts

A lorry shed its load of metal poles and fencing panels in a major city centre road this evening. Emergency services were called to St George's Way, near St George's Retail Park shortly before 6pm. The debris from the Kaby Engineering vehicle blocked part of the road, causing some delays to traffic.

There were no injuries reported and the cause of the incident was unclear tonight. A section of the road was closed for some time to allow space for the clear-up operation, according to a witness. Crouch Recovery were called in and their team used their lifting gear to move the poles and panels from the road and loaded them on to their truck.

The operation came to a close around 10pm. We covered this story live. Updates are below.
