Three women taken to hospital after serious crash between HGV and car on A34

Three women have been taken to hospital following a serious crash on the A34 in Cheshire. A number of road closures were in force in Astbury this morning (June 25) following the collision. Emergency services were at the scene of the collision for a number of hours, which involved a HGV and a car.

The A34 Newcastle Road is closed in both directions - it was first shut at around 2.30am. Cheshire Police have said the collision is serious. A police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 2.30am on Thursday police were called to a serious collision at the junction of Dodds Lane in Astbury.

"The collision involved a HGV and a car. "Three women have been taken to North Staffordshire Hospital with serious injuries. "A road closure was in place between West Road in Congleton and the A34 Scholar Green.

"Diversions were in place and drivers were advised to avoid the area. "If anyone has any information or dash cam footage please contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 738643." The road was closed between Fol Hollow (Astbury) to Childs Lane (Brownlow Heath).
