Boy, 3, in life-threatening condition after being hit by tipper truck as police shut off road

A young boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was struck by a tipper truck in Clayton. Emergency services, including the air ambulance, were called to North Road just before 1pm on Monday (July 13). The boy is believed to be three-years-old.

He was taken to hospital by land ambulance and is said to be seriously injured. A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 12.58pm. “We have attended with an air ambulance, two ambulances, the advanced paramedic, two operational commanders and a rapid response vehicle.

He is in a serious condition.” NWAS and police vehicles remain at the scene. A section of North Road has been sealed off by police.
