M5 closed as lorry jackknifes smashing across central reservation
Highways England release statement saying ‘central reserve barrier is now flat to the floor’
Highways England have released a statement documenting the accident on the M5. They said: “The M5 is closed southbound between Junction 7 (south of Worcester centre) and Junction 8 (M50 junction) due to a collision. “Lanes 2 and 3 are closed on the northbound, lane 1 is running.
“A lorry has collided with the central reserve barrier which is now flat to the floor. The lorry has come to rest across all lanes on the southbound carriageway. “Our Traffic Officers are at scene, coordinating clear up and barrier repair.
“Traffic is diverted to follow the hollow circle symbol – to leave the M5 at J7, head west on the A44, south on the A4440 and then use the A48 and M50 eastbound to return at J8. “Delays are building on the approach to this incident in both directions, with approx.
