Pictures show dramatic moment firefighters rescue 29-year-old horse from ditch

Firefighters have released photographs of the dramatic moment they rescued a 29-year-old horse which had fallen into a ditch. The horse became trapped in Ashby-cum-Fenby on Sunday, July 26 and 15 firefighters were drafted in to help the animal. A team from Humberside Fire and Rescue spent almost three hours working at the scene after they received a call that the horse was in distress and needed rescuing just after 2pm.

The horse was in such a precarious situation that it had to be sedated before firefighters climbed into the ditch and dug out of the mud using shovels.
