A165 closed by 'serious' crash involving three cars and a lorry

A multi-vehicle crash blocked a carriageway north of Skirlaugh on Wednesday morning. Emergency services attended the crash on the A165. According to travel system Inrix, the crash blocked the A165 in both directions causing heavy traffic.

It said it was between the B1243 Church Lane and the A1035 Beverley Road. An eyewitness said: "Four fire trucks, three ambulances and police on the scene. Multiple car crash.

Serious." PCSO Darren Bainton Tweeted to warn motorists: "Traffic alert three-vehicle collision A165 between Skirlaugh to Leven White Cross. Carriageway blocked. Emergency services on route."

On Wednesday morning, travel system Inrix said: "A165 in both directions blocked, heavy traffic due to accident. "Three vehicles involved between B1243 Church Lane (Duke Of York Pub, Skirlaugh) and A1035 Beverley Road (Leven)." A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said the crash involved four vehicles.

"The A165 is closed following a multi-vehicle collision close to the junction with Swine Road, Skirlaugh," she said. "We were called at 8.55am, following reports of a collision involving a silver Hyundai i40, a red Ford Fiesta, a black Ford Kuga and a lorry. "At this stage, we do not believe anyone has been seriously injured and we are now working to establish the circumstances of the incident.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area, as the road remains closed from the junctions with Balk Lane and Vicarage Lane to allow the vehicles to be recovered. "If you have information that could assist us and are yet to speak to officers, please call our non-emergency 101 line, quoting log 101 of A26 August." The road reopened around 1pm on Wednesday.

PCSO Darren Bainton Tweeted: "Skirlaugh to Long Riston now reopen following the earlier collision.
