Chester woman killed by truck on A41 had been involved in an earlier crash

A woman who was hit by a truck on the A41 was walking along the road after crashing her car earlier that morning. Police rushed to Whitchurch Road, near Broxton, at around 4.40am last Friday (August 7). Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered that a pedestrian, a woman in her 40s from the Chester area, had sustained serious injuries after being hit by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV).

Sadly, the woman later died at the scene. The woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The driver of the HGV, a 49-year-old man from Beechwood, Merseyside, is not believed to have sustained any injuries as a result of the collision.

Officers believe that the woman was involved in an earlier crash on the A41, further north near Dragon Hall.

She is believed to have got out of a damaged black Peugeot car and started walking south.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone who witnessed either collision or believes that they saw the woman walking along the road in the early hours of August to call Cheshire Constabulary on 101, quoting IML 773654, or give the details via their website.

The same goes for anyone who thinks they have dashcam footage that may be relevant to the ongoing investigation.
