LIVE: Closure on M6 in Cheshire following multiple HGV and car crash

Traffic is being temporarily held on the M6 in Cheshire following a multi-vehicle crash. There are severe delays and stationary traffic due to the multi-vehicle accident on the M6 Southbound from junction 20 M56 J9 (Lymm Interchange) to junction 19 A556 (Knutsford). Traffic has been held since around 3.05pm, according to data site, Inrix.

Cheshire police have confirmed they were called to the M6 southbound at 2.30pm today (August 28). The crash involves two HGVs and two saloon cars. Emergency services are in the area.

The northbound side is also queuing due to onlookers and traffic is struggling to get on from the A556 coming from Northwich.

Highways England have confirmed traffic officers are at the scene and recovery are on their way to the area.
