Live updates as A1033 closed after crash between car and lorry

A rural road in the East Riding is shut following a serious crash between a car and lorry. The A1033 between Patrington and Bydales Lane at Winestead, Holderness, is currently closed. It is believed to have happened on the S bend of Winestead Lane and police officers are at the scene.

Traffic management system Inrix said: “A1033 Winestead Lane closed, slow traffic due to accident, a lorry and car involved between Humber Lane (Patrington) and Winstead Turn-Off (Winestead). “Police have closed the road to recover the lorry. Caller reported the lorry involved on the S bend of the road.”

Drivers are being asked to find alternative routes as police say the road is likely to be closed for some time. PCSO Darren Bainton tweeted: “Patrington to Winestead carriageway closed A1033 from Bydales Lane due to serious collision. “Expect delays and find alternative routes, the road is likely to remain closed for some time due to the heavy recovery required.”

A driver claimed it involved a Tesco lorry.
