Lorry crashes into railway bridge over Orford Road

DELAYS are reported after a lorry crashed into a railway bridge this morning. The HGV collided with the bridge over Orford Road at around 11am today, Thursday. It is unclear whether the road has been closed by the incident, but heavy traffic is reported on the A50 between Manchester Road and Hilden Island as a result.

A Cheshire Police spokesman said: “At 11.08am on August 27, police were called to reports that a HGV had become stuck under a railway bridge on Orford Road. “The incident has been passed on to British Transport Police.” This is the second time within months that the bridge has been struck by a lorry, with an Amazon truck having been involved in an accident in the same spot back in May.
