Lorry driver from Colchester dies after A14 crash

A LORRY driver from Colchester has sadly died after a crash on the A14. Craig Keeble, 48, has been named by police as the man who died at the scene of the crash at Rougham, Suffolk, on Tuesday, subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings. Mr Keeble was driving the HGV when he was involved in a crash with another lorry shortly before 9.30am.

Ambulance and fire crews were also in attendance, along with a critical care team from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS). Sadly, there was nothing they could do to save his life. The driver of the other lorry was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for a check-up, but did not sustain any serious injuries.

The road was closed for close to 11 hours while Suffolk Police began their investigation.

They are now appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward – including anyone who may have travelled along the road in either direction just prior to the incident and has a dash cam in their vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit either by emailing SCIU@suffolk.pnn.police.uk or calling 101, and quoting reference CAD 71 of 25 August.
