Smoke, emergency services and smashed cars at A165 crash scene

A HGV driver stuck in front of a three-vehicle crash has described smoke and smashed cars at the scene. Emergency services are in attendance at the crash on the A165 this Wednesday morning. According to travel system Inrix, the crash has closed the road in both directions between the B1243 Church Lane (Duke Of York Pub, Skirlaugh) and Jet Petrol Station (Long Riston).

A truck driver, who does not want to be named, told Hull Live he saw smoke coming from one vehicle following the crash. “There’s a multiple car accident,” he said. “I’m right in front of it. There’s a HGV truck and two cars.

“There’s four fire trucks, four ambulances, a paramedics car and a load of police officers. “This road is going to be blocked off for a while. Because I am in a HGV truck I am going to have to sit here because I can’t move.

I can’t turn round.” The 51-year-old said he is used to seeing crashes but that this looked “serious”. “It happened more or less in front of me,” he said. “It’s after Skirlaugh it’s in between Skirlaugh and Long Riston.
