Vauxhall Corsa owner has new car seized after owning it for just a day

The owner of new car had the Vauxhall Corsa taken off them after only a day after police found it had been stolen from just up the road. The vehicle was spotted by officers from Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team, an arm of Derbyshire Police, on the A514 Hartshorne Road, in Woodville, yesterday, Tuesday, August 25. It had only been bought by the new owner on Monday, August 24.

However, the black vehicle was found to have been stolen from Church Gresley back in July, police say. It has now been recovered and taken away for forensic examination, with officers issuing a warning to check carefully before buying a car. The neighbourhood team posted about the find on its dedicated Facebook page, along with an image of the vehicle being recovered on the back on a truck.

A spokesman from the policing team said: "The lesson of the day today is to always double check any vehicles that you are planning on purchasing.
