Wimbledon: Man taken to hospital with 'serious injuries'

A man has been rushed to hospital following a crash with a ‘large’ tipper truck this morning. Police were called to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a lorry at the junction of Dunsford Road and Plough Lane, at around 07.28pm. Emergency services attended and a man was rushed to a major trauma centre.

An eyewitness said: “A cyclist was clearly underneath a large tipper truck who was making a left turn from Gap Road onto Durnsford Rd. “It was pretty apparent that onlookers and other motorists were very distressed by what they saw. “The emergency services were doing all they could and I sincerely hope the cyclist is ok.”

This Is Local London: A spokesperson for London Ambulance Services said: “We were called at 7.24am this morning to reports of a collision involving a bicycle. “We dispatched two ambulance crews, an incident response officer and a support vehicle with the first of our medics arriving within five minutes.

“We treated a man at the scene and took him to a major trauma centre.”

Police have confirmed the lorry driver stopped at the scene and wasn’t arrested.

Road closures remain in place and enquiries continue.
