Armed police detain 'illegal entrant' hiding in HGV in Cornwall

Police have detained an ‘illegal entrant’ after they were found stowed away in an HGV in Cornwall on Saturday. Devon and Cornwall Police and Dorset Police’s roads policing team revealed the news in a tweet, revealing that both they and armed police were involved in the incident. “@RoadPolAlliance and @AllianceArv successfully #Safeguarded an #IllegalEntrant to the #UK on the detained on #30 in #Cornwall this evening,” they tweeted.

“The individual had been stowed away on an HGV. #UKBorderForce now dealing.” Officials have not revealed the age, gender or nationality of the individual involved. Illegal entry is classed as an ‘Offence of knowingly entering the United Kingdom in breach of a deportation order or without leave’, according to the UK Government.
