A128 Brentwood Road crash: Road to be closed for eight hours after serious collision

A major Essex road is likely to remain shut for a total of eight hours after a serious crash. Police remain at the scene of the incident on the A128 in Thurrock this morning after a black BMW X5 and a red Peugeot collided at around 4am (Monday, October 5). The road is closed as far as the A127 at Ongar Hall Farm and there is no left turn on to the A128 from Prince Charles Avenue.

It is expected to remain cordoned off by police until around midday today and motorists are advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

Police are keen to speak to any witnesses  – in particular a HGV driver who may have stopped following the collision. A spokesperson for the force said: “We are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision involving two vehicles which will cause significant disruption to motorists this morning, Monday 5 October. “Investigating officers are particularly appealing for the driver of an HGV which may have briefly stopped following the collision to get in touch.

“Additionally anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash cam footage of it should also get in contact. We are also keen to hear from anyone who saw a black BMW X5 driving erratically before the collision at 4am. “Witnesses and anyone else with information should contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 or email collision.appeal@essex.police.uk quoting incident number 99 of 5 October.”

Traffic does seem to be coping well but drivers are urged to check their journeys before they travel.
