Blackburn road closed as police officer taken to hospital

A TOWN centre road has been closed as the emergency services deal with a crash in which a police van ended up on its side. Fire crews, paramedics and the police were called to King Street in Blackburn at around 10am this morning following reports of the incident. The vehicle, which was not involved in a police pursuit at the time of the collision, can be seen over on its side close to a set of traffic lights.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are not currently known but one officer has been taken to hospital as a precaution. A spokesman said: “We are aware of a road traffic collision involving a police vehicle in King Street, Blackburn, which happened just before 10am today.

One police officer has been taken to hospital as a precaution. “The police vehicle was not involved in a pursuit at the time of the collision. Road closures are in place at King Street at the junction with Wainwright Way.”
