“I’m the only provider in my family right now because my mom is on dialysis four times a week and my sister had to quit her job to take care of our mom,” he said. “I have to take care of my mom and my sister, paying the bills.” OLG spokesperson Tony Bitonti said that previous to Barcham’s double win, a player won £1 million on Encore in an April 2017 Lotto 649 draw and £10,000 playing the same game later that month. The winner in that case was Clifford Reynolds, a 70-year-old retired trucker from London, Ont., according to media reports.

“While it doesn’t happen often, we do have customers who win a major lottery twice,” Bitonti said. Barcham said he will continue playing, but if he scores again, he will stop because he wants to give others “a chance to win.” Bitonti said there are no restrictions stopping a prize winner from playing again immediately.
