Highways England all four lanes of the coastbound carriageway were closed for about 30 minutes due to a spillage from 3.30pm. The inside lane is still shut this evening while further clearance works take place.

Two fire engines and a bulk water carrier were sent to the scene, a fire service spokesman said.

Crews used foam and hose reel jets of water to tackle the blaze.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported and fire crews left the scene at 3.38pm. Normal traffic conditions are expected to resume at about 8pm, Highways England said.
