Man 'deliberately run over and hit with baseball bats and hammer' in Retford

Police are investigating after a man was “deliberately run over” before being attacked with “baseball bats and a hammer” in Retford. The incident took place in Grove Street at 12.45pm on Friday, October 9. Police say witnesses reported a blue pick up truck deliberately drive towards the man and run him over.

He was then allegedly assaulted by the occupants of the truck with baseball bats and a hammer. The man received minor injuries – but police say it could have been much worse. Detective Constable Jann Olsen, who is investigating, said: “This was a violent incident and it’s fortunate that the victim was not more seriously hurt.

“Our enquiries into what happened are well underway and we are looking at CCTV and other available evidence to try and find those responsible.

“I would urge anyone who saw what happened who has not already spoken to the police to come forward and help us with our investigation.”
