The Gloucestershire pumpkin patches where you can pick your own pumpkin this Halloween

In 2020, time has proved itself to be just a construct. Some parts of the year dragged, the rest whizzed past – and now its nearly Halloween. Halloween is nothing without a pretty pumpkin lighting up your living room window or front path, so we’ve compiled a list of pumpkin patches in Gloucestershire to get you in the Halloween spirit.

After all, there has never been a better time to support Gloucestershire businesses than now.

Over Farm

The iconic farm on the A40 is hosting its annual pumpkin picking this year, albeit with some changes made due to social distancing measures. If you want to visit, you will have to book a time slot online due to limited numbers per session. Slots will be priced at around GBP2 per person, and are compulsory for everyone except babes in arms.

The pumpkin picking field will have a separate entrance and exit, and there will be a limit of six people per party and 60 per hour allowed in the field.

Social distancing in line with the current government guidelines will be required at all times, and are subject to change. Pumpkins will be priced GBP1 to GBP6 dependent on size. The GBP2 ticket price will not be deducted from pumpkin price.

If you fancy bringing a furry friend along, make sure they are on a lead and that you clean up after them. Picnics are not permitted in the field, but Over Farm has recently launched its very own food truck which you can buy tempting burgers, bacon butties and loaded fries.

This is open 10am to 4pm at the weekends. Your fun day out at Over Farm doesn’t have to end at the pumpkin patch, as customers can also purchase tickets to the Farm Trail, which gives families the exciting experience of seeing all the animals on the farm.

Primrose Vale Farm

Although this farm in Bentham will sadly not be hosting its Halloween trail this year due to its interactive nature, its PYO pumpkin experience is thankfully still going ahead. Throughout the October half term week, free tickets will be released every day at 5pm for the following day.

If you’re a ticket holder, there’s so much fun you can get up to at Primrose Vale Farm – from selecting the perfect pumpkin to carve, to taking idyllic snaps for Instagram, and seeing a potential world record holder pumpkin. Like Over Farm, and in accordance with government guidelines, a maximum of six people are allowed in each group. Tickets will not be released until at least October 10.

Pumpkins will also be available in the farm shop.

Cotswold Farm Park

From October 3 right up to October 31, this popular farm attraction in Guiting Power has its own plump pumpkins for you to pick. You can now book tickets for every weekend in October as well as the October half term week to pick out your pumpkin for a festive pie or traditional lantern. During Cotswold Farm Park’s pumpkin picking season, entry and one pumpkin token will be included in all farm park admissions.

If you want to book tickets solely to pick out a pumpkin, without admission to the farm park, you can do so here.

Cattle Country

From October 3 through until October 31, Cattle Country will be offering those keen to get into the Halloween spirit the chance to take their pick of ‘thousands’ of pumpkins, which are priced according to size. Entry to the pumpkin patch is included in your Cattle Country entrance ticket. There is even a pumpkin patch photobooth, so you can hold onto the memories of choosing your pumpkin for Halloweens to come.

Of course, the number of visitors to the pumpkin patch will be limited, and it is advised that you keep your distance from other visitors. Hand sanitiser will be available and wheelbarrows will be sanitised after every use.

Country Pumpkins

Country Pumpkins is just outside of Gloucestershire, in Ledbury, but there are hundreds of pumpkins waiting for those willing to make the short journey across the border. Booking a time slot is mandatory to visit this quaint pumpkin patch, but entry is free and so is parking.
