Fortunately he is rescued by a trusty Coca-Cola truck and returned back home to his daughter, only to finally read her letter and discover that instead of presents his daughter has asked: “Please bring daddy home for Christmas.”

The emotional roller coaster which seems almost too far fetched at times had everyone crying by the end though, especially when the Coca-Cola truck driver was revealed to be Santa all along. Twitter users have been reacting to the advert over the course of the week with some people hailing it as ‘one of the best Coca-Cola Christmas ads’ ever. “Omg the coca cola christmas advert so emotional,” wrote twitter user Vicky.

“So many reasons to love Coca Cola’s 2020 Christmas Advert,” said another. And twitter user Holly added: “I’ve never cried at a Coca Cola advert before, but Taika Waititi has worked his magic and now I’m bawling.” With the famous Coca-Cola truck tour cancelled this year due to the pandemic, the advert has not taken the usual ‘holidays are coming’ approach and instead opted to remind people: “This Christmas, give something only you can give.”

The tagline for the commercial explains: “Be it in person, over an awkward video call, or just a quick message, making time for the ones you love is what makes Christmas truly the most special time of year, no matter how you do it.”
