Giant 200-ton dumper truck reverses off a 80ft cliff and erupts into flames – but driver somehow escapes alive

This is the terrifying moment a 200-ton dumper truck reversed off an 80-foot cliff and erupted into flames, but the driver managed to escape. 

The video shows the truck slowly reverse towards the edge at the Kachkanarsky Ore Mining and Processing Plant in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia.     

The BelAZ dumper truck overturns in mid-air before crashing into the open pit at the iron ore mine where it bursts into flames.

The truck plummets to the ground and crashes into a cloud of dust before smoke is seen billowing out of the engine, followed by flames shooting up.  

The unnamed driver managed to escape the vehicle and received first aid following the terrifying manoeuvre which was reported on Wednesday 18.

The BelAZ truck plummets off the edge of the cliff and into the open pit at the plant 

A spokesman from the EVRAZ KGOK-owned plant said: ‘As a result of the accident, the dump truck overturned. The driver who escaped the vehicle is alive.

‘He received first aid, the employee is under the supervision of (medical) specialists.’

‘The plant is examining the reasons for the accident.

The facility is operating normally.’

The Kachkanarsky Ore Mining and Processing Plant is one of the five largest ore mining companies in Russia. 

The EVRAZ KGOK plant excavates iron ore from four open pit mines and processes the deposits into sinter and pellets.
