Man who died in Ockley crash is named by police as suspect is released

A man who died following a crash in Ockley has been named by police. Officers were called to the collision involving a pick-up truck and a motorbike, which took place in Ockley Road, at around 10.30pm on Friday, November 13. Surrey Road Cops tweeted about the incident at the time, saying: “We are currently dealing with a serious collision on the B2126 Ockley Road.

The road is closed.” The motorcyclist involved in the crash, who was declared dead at the scene at around 11.15pm, has been named as Jamie Griffiths, 33, of Warninglid in West Sussex. Images taken at the scene on Monday, November 16 showed floral tributes on the side of the road, as well as a white apron with messages written on it.

Find out how you can get more news from SurreyLive straight to your inbox HERE. The driver of the truck, a 25-year-old man from Dorking, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. However, he has now been released without charge and is assisting police as a witness.

Surrey Police is still investigating the incident and is urging witnesses to come forward.
