Driver airlifted to hospital after car collides with lorry on A470 at Llanidloes

A FEMALE driver was airlifted to hospital after her car collided with an articulated lorry on the A470 Llanidloes bypass early on Friday morning (today). The road is closed following the accident, which occurred at around 7.40am, and Dyfed Powys Police says the road is likely to remain closed for a considerable period of time. A force spokesperson said: “Dyfed Powys Police was called to a collision involving a car and an articulated lorry on the A470 Llanidloes bypass at around 7.40am today (Friday, December 18).

“The driver of the car has been airlifted to hospital. Her two passengers were treated at the scene by paramedics. “The road will remain closed for some time for collision investigation work to be carried out.

“Anyone travelling along this stretch of road at the time of the collision who had dash cam footage, or saw the collision or the vehicles involved, is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.” A tweet from Traffic Wales described the incident as a “serious collision”, adding that the area affected was “between the roundabout and the B4518”. Drivers are being advised to find an alternative route.
